The pupils all attended a Safety in Action event at Highlands College, which was really interesting.

Each safety scenario was run by experts and there were members from the emergency services and St John Ambulance teaching the children how to stay safe.

Jepson learned how to do first aid on someone who fell off their bike, learned about the importance of wearing a cycle helmet, staying safe in the sea and keeping safe in the kitchen.

Some of the children even had a go at trying to save his life.

At the end of the visit the children were given a goody bag containing a healthy snack and some fruit and safety information to pass on to their parents.

The children were quizzed before and after the event and they will also be asked about it again when they go back to school in September to make sure that they still remember it all.

BIG Jepson had a super day at the races last weekend – it was Ladies Day at Les Landes.

I don’t know if you are aware, but these events are not just about the horse racing.

It’s all about being seen in the smartest of clothes. (It’s a shame Big Jepson didn’t take heed.)

He helped judge the best-dressed children’s competition, and assisted organiser David Gainsborough Roberts in handing out prizes for the best hat and the best-dressed female.

Big Jepson with Natasha Connell and Lara WalkerJepson was on hand to congratulate all of the winners
