All 18 Jersey institutes were represented, with a number of members having contributed to the tea by making the cakes, and it was hosted by the Lieutenant-Governor, General Sir John McColl, and Lady McColl,

‘It was a lovely event and it all went brilliantly,’ said vice-chairman Joy Thomson, who is also on the WI national board and was among 30 Jersey members who recently enjoyed a garden party at Buckingham Palace before attending the annual general meeting at the Royal Albert Hall.

The afternoon tea at Government House was one of a number of events which have been arranged for the Jersey membership to mark the national anniversary.

Two more events on the calendar are participation at the Battle of Flowers in August and a WI Day at Hamptonne Country Museum in September.
