To encourage you to go out and make the most of the Island’s natural assets, the JEP is running Nature Watch, a monthly photographic competition and online picture gallery.

Each month we will print your best nature pictures and also share them here on our website. And one winning photographer will receive a printed canvas of their image, courtesy of Framing Workshop.

Use the form below to upload your best pictures.

This month’s theme: Woodlands

Woodland birds are far more easy to see – great tits, woodpeckers, wood pigeons, chaffinches and jays – all noisily tell you of their whereabouts.

While looking out for scuttling red squirrels in the treetops it’s also worth keeping the eyes peeled down below for bugs, beetles and all kinds of wood-chewing insects. Ladybirds, wolf spiders, harvestman spiders, earwigs, woodlice and soldier beetles are just some of the species to look out for, as well as lichen and moss.
