As many Islanders battled to feed their families and keep their communities buoyed, two notable Jerseymen fought German commanders and UK politicians in an effort to save the Island, playing a key role in bringing the SS Vega to Jersey and potentially saving thousands of lives with the Red Cross parcels it delivered.
