The move to form the independent marketing organisation, which has provisionally been called ‘Visit Jersey’, has also been supported by Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean.

He lodged a proposal in 2012 to set up the group behind the recommendations, the Tourism Shadow Board, which was last year given the job of finding the best way to bring tourists back to the Island.

Delivering a speech to industry stakeholders at the Jersey Hospitality Association’s agm on Friday, the board’s chairman and former JT chairman, John Henwood, said: ‘It is the Tourism Shadow Board’s clear view that the route to success is through a radical rethink of the way in which the Island is promoted as a destination.’

Others at the event also expressed their support.
