Trees down but little other damage

Winds were reported by Jersey Met Office as gusting to 64 mph at the Airport and 73 mph at the Harbour.

Emergency Services say that they received no reports of injuries nor of any serious structural damage because of the strong winds during the night.

There was some frustration for drivers in the early evening, however, with long traffic delays after Victoria Avenue was closed at high tide.

The stormy weather has already resulted in all Condor high-speed ferry sailings to and from the UK today being cancelled, as they were yesterday.

A combination of winds and high tides also meant that Friday’s Commodore Clipper service to Portsmouth was unable to operate, although the Clipper is expected to be able to travel on Saturday with a slightly altered route.

Condor is running additional services on Sunday for those affected by the cancellation of the Jersey to Weymouth service.
