Now, following his death, his family have donated it to the Hovercraft Museum in Hampshire.
Mr Le Bon’s daughter, Justine Bell, said that building the hovercraft had been a challenge for her father and had combined his love of engineering and aerodynamics.
‘I didn’t want to see it scrapped,’ she added. ‘So I’m delighted a team of enthusiasts will be looking after it and appreciating it.’
