This will be followed by a big swell expected on Saturday which will cause large waves to break over sea walls.
A red tide warning has been put in place for the high tides at 7.45 pm on Saturday and 8.05 am on Sunday.
Forecasters have warned there may be some flooding in low-lying coastal areas.
