With fairy lights wrapped around each tree and a selection of different sized Christmas trees surrounding a Nativity crib, the light spectacular also coincided with the launch of the Christmas Appeal.
Speaking from the balcony of the United Club overlooking the square, the Dean of Jersey, the Very Rev Bob Key, welcomed everyone to the event and blessed the crib and wished everyone a happy and holy Christmas.
Jean Dale, head of the Christmas Appeal charity fund-raising event, thanked everyone for braving the cold and reminded them of the importance of the appeal and the good work it does raising money for the needy.
Late night Thursday and Sunday shopping will now continue until Christmas with more festive celebrations planned for the town centre this weekend.
