The aim of the day, which organisers hope could now become an annual event, was to raise awareness of the wide variety of sporting clubs and associations that use the centre.
Around 40 clubs, associations and businesses signed up to exhibit on the day, with many offering free taster sessions.
Colin Stanier, marketing manager for the sport and leisure division, said that people of all ages attended the day, including many families.
‘The day has gone really well – we are very pleased,’ he said. ‘The overwhelming comment – both from clubs and associations who have their base at the Fort, as well as from the members of the public who visited – has been that it should become an annual event. It’s been a great success.’
