Kenyan Reuben Chumba raced away from defending champion Tomas Abyu in the latter stages to win the men’s race in a time of 2 hr 24 min 23 sec, shaving 20 seconds off the previous record.
And French-Russian Svetlana Prétot, who finished fifth overall, smashed the women’s record in a time of 2.44.33.
The elite were joined on the road by hundreds of other runners taking part in the relay and JEP 3km fun run and all were cheered on by hundreds more spectating or helping out as marshals.
