Several routes were closed by police following the spill and crashes were reported as drivers made their way into work.
It is not yet known if the accidents were linked to the hazardous road conditions, but The Tunnel, Snow Hill, The Esplanade, Gloucester Street and Seaton Place are just some of the roads affected.
