Met Office duty forecaster Peter Munns said that Battle day tomorrow would be sunny and dry and that conditions should also be good for Friday evening’s Moonlight Parade.

‘It won’t be too hot, so people won’t suffer with that, but there will be a fair bit of sunshine and it should be dry,’ he said. ‘You could say that those are perfect conditions for Battle day.’

Mr Munns added: ‘There will be a maximum temperature of 23ºC, which is the average maximum for this time of year, so it looks like being a good day.’

On the forecast for Friday, he said: ‘There is some increase in the thickness of the clouds, but it is unlikely that there will be any showers. Hopefully the cloud will break up and there may even be some starlight during the parade. There will be a minimum temperature of 17 or 18ºC on Friday evening, so it’s looking good for the Moonlight Parade.’
