Christine Le Cappelain passed away in March, aged 62, after suffering from cancer of the brain. In the past, her family were keen Battle entrants, so they have decided to enter the parade again one last time in her memory.
The float, called Stairway to Heaven, has been put together by Christine’s husband Trevor Le Cappelain and her brother Derek Le Cornu, and the entry is raising money for Jersey Hospice Care and Macmillan Cancer Support (Jersey).
Mr Le Cappelain explained: ‘Our family used to enter a small float into the Battle of Flowers every year. We did seven altogether and the last one we did was about 20 years ago.
‘For the last few years, since we’ve had grandchildren, we kept saying we should enter again, but it is too late now. Christine loved doing Battle and loved seeing the children on the float.’
