Parade organisers said that the launch of their new online booking system – which allows people to select their own seats and print their tickets at home – had proved to be a big success, with online ticket sales higher than ever.

Event director Jackie Donald said that there were now fewer than 1,900 seating tickets remaining for Thursday’s Grand Day Parade, out of a total of 10,777, and only around half of the 4,000 standing tickets left for annual carnival.
