Due to a gap in the law it is not a criminal offence in Jersey to make grossly offensive or threatening comments in emails, on blogs or on social networking websites such as Twitter and Facebook in a practice known as ‘trolling’.
The States police say that the issue has become an increasing problem in the Island – and now ministers have proposed a change in the
Electronic Communications Law to fill the gap.
