Jersey Post announced last week that 51 little-used post-boxes were to be scrapped and said some would be removed from walls and auctioned off.

But today, the company said it would consider each box on a case-by-case basis and was happy to hear from any interested parties who might have concerns over the future of the iconic red boxes – some of which are over 100 years old.

Jersey Post made the comments in response to a letter published in today’s JEP from Jurat Collette Crill, which said the boxes formed an important part of the Island’s history and removing them would be a grave mistake.
