Jersey Post this week announced that 51 little-used post boxes are to be closed in phases over the summer.
Today Kevin Keen, chief executive of Jersey Post, said that the boxes would be sealed off and some would eventually be removed and sold.
And some post box collectors have already made inquiries about buying the boxes, some of which are more than 100 years old.
The boxes are being removed following a significant reduction in post volumes in Jersey, which in 1852 became the first place in Britain to have a pillar box.
