Senator Francis Le Gresley has accepted the recommendation of the independent Employment Forum for the retention of the six month qualifying timeframe.
In a report presented to the States, the minister said that last year employer representative bodies such as the Jersey Chamber of Commerce and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development had lobbied for a change.
They expressed concern that the current qualifying period deterred firms from taking people on and creating new jobs due to the perceived risks and costs of defending complaints to the Jersey Employment Tribunal.
