The Rev Chris Jervis is taking up his post today and a service to celebrate the new ministry and his appointment is to be held at the church at 6 pm.
Mr Jervis (60), who is moving to the Island with his wife Carolyn, was ordained in 1982 after finding his faith while teaching physical education, having previously been what he described as ‘a convinced atheist’ in his teenage years.
He will be retiring soon from his current role as chaplain and head of philosophy and theology at Canford School in Dorset
