Figures released today show that in the 12 months to March headline inflation stood at just 1.4 per cent – the lowest for 3½ years and down 0.7 per cent on the end of the year.

That compares to 3.3 per cent in the UK and 2.6 in Guernsey and will come as welcome news to struggling Islanders.

Assistant Treasury Minister Eddie Noel said that low inflation was a ‘win- win’ for Islanders and would help Jersey to remain competitive in attracting overseas business.
