The Jersey Court of Appeal yesterday rejected former Magistrate-designate Ian Christmas’s appeal against his conviction and 15-month sentence for fraudulently inducing Marie Cotrel to invest £100,000 of her money through his company in 2004.

Former financial advisers Russell Foot, John Lewis and James Cameron, also lost their appeals against conviction for fraudulently inducing Islanders to part with their money, save for one count against Cameron, which was quashed.

Cameron also lost his appeal against a 4½-year prison term. The other two men did not appeal against their sentences.

Investors have spoken of their relief at the court’s decision but say that they have a fight on their hands now to get their money back. See today’s JEP for the full story.
