The spokesman for campaign group Ravas, Richard Allen, spoke out today following comments by Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean reported yesterday.

The minister said that the UK government’s scrapping of Low Value Consignment Relief for the Channel Islands – which enabled Jersey companies to export goods to England VAT-free – had done nothing to help struggling shops because the goods were now being shipped from other jurisdictions.

But Mr Allen said that while goods were still entering the UK from other places VAT-free, the UK government’s action had helped UK retailers.
