Public’s views wanted on dual role of Bailiff

The Bailiff currently sits as both judge in the Royal Court and President of the States.

Privileges and Procedures Committee chairman Simon Crowcroft told the States yesterday that a sub-group had been formed to examine the issue.

The St Helier Constable said that the terms of reference for the inquiry were being drawn up and that Islanders would be asked to share their thoughts in a green paper later this year.

He was responding to a question from Deputy Trevor Pitman.
