Family pay tribute to Thailand crash couple

News | Published:

THE grieving parents of a Jerseyman killed in a road accident in Thailand have today paid tribute to their 'adventurous and fun-loving son'.

Peter Root, who was born in Jersey and grew up in Guernsey, and his girlfriend, Mary Thompson, died last week after being hit by a pick-up truck while on a round-the-world cycling holiday.

Speaking while surrounded by members of both families, his father, Jerry, said that they had been touched by the many comments and outpouring of support.

The family spoke as Thai tourism officials apologised for the tragedy.
