Deputy wants separate tax bills for married women

Deputy Geoff Southern has lodged a proposition in the States to try to force the Treasury Minister to outline the case for introducing individual income tax assessments, which would separate married women’s tax affairs from their husbands.

He wants Senator Philip Ozouf to present a report on the issue by the end of September next year so the States could debate the proposals in the 2014 budget.
