Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf said that the number of early adopters of the new technology was an ‘encouraging sign’ for JT’s roll out of fibre-optic broadband across the Island.

Of the 1,000 homes which have already been connected, just ten have upgraded to 1Gb internet services – the world’s fastest available fibre broadband.

A further 30 homes have chosen the 100Mb service, which is also considered a ‘super-fast’ service. The remaining 960 homes have stuck with internet speeds already available to them – and the rest of the Island – ranging from 2Mb to 20Mb.
