Officials at Cherbourg Coastguard yesterday contacted the Jersey authorities after the body was found on a beach in Surtainville, south of Flamanville.
The States police are today working to establish whether the body is that of 18-year-old Armando Fernandes Pestana who fell in to the sea just before 5 pm on 16 August while fishing with friends at Sorel Point on the north coast.
