Unemployment levels increased by a total of 20 to leave 1,740 Islanders out of work, according to figures released today.
But the seasonally adjusted total, which takes into account winter and summer fluctuations caused by the availability of seasonal work, was down by ten on the previous month.
The figures, released by the States Statistic Unit, could spell bad news for some students who received their GCSE and A-levels in the last two weeks.
While many plan to go on to further study, some youngsters have begun searching for work in an already tough jobs market.
A major careers fair is being held next month to provide a chance for youngsters to consider their options.
