Charles John Brown (41), of Longueville Road – who only has one leg – and spina bifida sufferer Adam William Leighton James Ferris (19), of Tower Road, admitted importing 243.74 grams of cannabis at the Elizabeth Terminal on 20 June.
Both said that the drug –worth an estimated street value of up to £4,000 – was for their own use and was to be used as an alternative to prescription medication. However, Relief Magistrate Peter Harris said that although he sympathised with their circumstances, the court would not be drawn into the debate about the medicinal use of cannabis.
