In the latest twist in the long-running saga, States Comptroller and Auditor General Chris Swinson announced late on Friday that he was quitting with immediate effect.

The move comes following almost a year of accusations and counter-claims by Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf and high-ranking civil servants after the States’ bid to buy the Lime Grove building off Green Street roundabout collapsed last year.

Speaking to the JEP this morning, Senator Ozouf said: ‘I have been very badly treated during this process. It has been going on for ten months now and it is beginning to feel like a witch-hunt.
