A Blue Islands ATR passenger aircraft, which had just arrived from Guernsey, suffered a mechanical failure with the left hand landing gear and it crashed down onto the runway.
The 40 passengers were immediately evacuated and there were no reports of anyone being seriously hurt.
A statement from the Airport said: ‘Emergency Services were called to deal with the incident and there were no reports of injuries to passengers or crew. All 40 passengers onboard disembarked the aircraft safely and have now left Jersey Airport with their baggage.’
All flights were diverted and a full investigation was launched. It was hoped that flying would resume at around 3.30 pm.
