In a response lodged with the States yesterday, Senator Philip Ozouf said that research was needed to ensure that it would be a ‘tax-neutral’ measure for the public and the States, and that any changes should not be rushed.

Senator Ozouf said that he supported modernising tax laws and had already pledged to review tax laws over two to three years.

Deputy Geoff Southern proposed in the States earlier this month that married women should be treated as individuals when it came to income tax.
