Egyptian goldfield owner bases itself in Jersey

Jersey-incorporated Centamin plc is listed in London on the main stock market as a FTSE 250 company with a market capitalisation of over £900 million and is also listed in Toronto.

Law and fiduciary group Ogier acted for Centamin Egypt Ltd in moving the company to Jersey from Australia. The series of transactions was finalised on 30 December.

Centamin is a growing producer with a flagship project, the Sukari gold mine, in Egypt’s eastern desert about 25 km from the Red Sea.

Production at Sukari started in June 2009, making it the first modern mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of gold.
