The Island men’s golf team manager Bob White explained that O’Neill fell off scaffolding yesterday in his work as a plasterer and injured his leg.
It will be a big loss to the team as O’Neill, one of the Island’s top amateurs, finished fifth in Aland two years ago and helped the team to a bronze so would have a contender for medals in the Isle of Wight.
Despite the Games starting a week on Saturday a replacement has been found in Chris Young, who was part of the Jersey team that finished fourth in the Rhodes Games in 2007.
