It was double Le Mans Series champion, Bell, who took to the wheel first for the rolling start from third place. He managed to avoid the carnage caused when the safety car remained on the track as the lights went green and although dropping to fourth initially, he returned to third just before the one hour mark.
Then it was time for Walker’s debut after which he said: ‘I really enjoyed that. I had a good battle with the Felbermayr Porsche and learned a huge amount about sportscar racing, especially when I lost my right side mirror which made turning into a blind corner very interesting.’
