The seven-year-old boy, whose condition had been described as critically ill, is now on an orthopaedic ward at Southampton Hospital.

A five-year-old girl, a 32-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, who were in the same car as the boy when it crashed head on into another vehicle outside Trinity Post Office, remain critical but stable in Southampton’s intensive care unit.

An 18-month-old girl involved in the crash is still in a comfortable but stable condition on Robin Ward at the Hospital and a 30-year-old woman who was also injured has now been released from hospital.

All six had been travelling in a black Peugeot 306 which collided with a Mercedes. The couple from the Mercedes were discharged from hospital earlier this week.
