UK Treasury Minister Lord Sassoon told the House of Lords last night that changes to the low-value consignment relief (LVCR) rules that allow goods shipped into the EU to escape the 20% VAT surcharge would be coming in the Budget this month.
That could mean a threat to the estimated 1,000 jobs in the fulfilment sector, but Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean says that a dramatic and immediate change to the rules is unlikely.
