It is just one of the Haitian food events being organised by Islanders in support of a major new appeal launched on Christmas Eve by Jersey Side by Side.
The disaster relief charity which was set up following the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami is aiming to raise £33,000 through its Help for Haiti campaign to pay for corn grinding mills to enable Haitian communities to rebuild their lives, in a joint project with Action Aid.
Today, on the first anniversary of the earthquake, school pupils and students across the Island were tucking into a Haitian meal in return for a donation to the appeal.
St Clement parishioner Lucille Monks, who shared a few of her special Caribbean recipes with Jersey Evening Post readers in Saturday’s paper, is behind the event on Saturday 22 January at her parish hall.
Tickets for the event will go on sale soon at the parish hall and from Mrs Monks, who runs the Rocqueberg guest house in Samarès Lane. They will cost £25 for adults and £10 for children under the age of 12.
