The 16-year-old was staring defeat in the face when Guernsey’s Dan de la Mare left his bowl centimetres away and blocking the front of the jack.
With the scores tied at 20-all and the pressure on Jersey’s young champion – and with a large and appreciative crowd urging him on – Davis then drew a perfect shot to brush the jack which resulted in de la Mare’s bowl falling back leaving Davis the 21-20 winner.
Davis, who was introduced to the game as a seven-year-old by his watching grandparents, Marlene and Bernard Vautier, was a very happy champion and the youngest ever winner of a Channel Islands title in a British Isles qualifying tournament.
