RWB topped their group on goal-difference from Guernsey’s Indie Puffins and after winning their cross-over group semi-final, 1-0 against Guernsey’s Amazon Cubs, it was Puffins again in the final.
Sarah Heelis scored a late goal to defeat the Cubs in the last four while RWB were twice pegged back in the final by Indie Puffins before going on to win 3-2.
The pool game between the teams had been goal-less but just ten minutes into the final RWB went ahead through Nina Driscoll only for Puffins to level following a short corner. Lucy Jordan restored RWB’s one-goal advantage only for the Puffins to equalise for a second time.
The match was heading into the closing stages when substitute Sally McDowell scored RWB’s winner – a trademark knock in from a few feet off an upright.
