The Jersey Indoor Bowls Association headed to Merthyr Tydfill to compete in the biennial contest against their welsh counterparts and with an experienced squad they were in a positive mood.
Unfortunately, the new trophy donated for the event will remain on Welsh soil as Jersey could only muster four victories and a draw in 22 matches.
All the points came from the men’s team, with the trio of Tommy Greechan, Lee Nixon and John Lowery snatching a draw on the opening evening, 15-15, with their last wood. In the pairs matches Lowery and Malcolm De Sousa won 22-12, as did Greechan and Nixon, 24-11.
There was also success in the singles as Terry Allan won 21-19 and Tom Greechan 21-14.
The women’s team returned without a win, despite going close on a number of occasions.
