Move to reduce housing qualification to ten years

The majority of non-Jersey-born people currently have to wait 11 years before they can buy or rent a property in the qualified housing sector. J-category essentially employed Islanders already get their qualifications after ten years.

But Housing Minister Sean Power has lodged a proposition today asking for that period to be reduced by one year. It follows the one-year decrease to the housing qualification period which came into force in spring last year.
