An amendment to the 2011 Business Plan will force States Members to choose between the ’50/50′ split on taxes and cuts proposed by the Council of Ministers and an alternative of almost £80m in cuts and just over £20m in new taxes.

The proposals were originally drawn up by Corporate Services member Deputy Tracey Vallois, but were endorsed by the rest of the panel, chaired by Senator Sarah Ferguson.

The amendment, by the Corporate Services Scrutiny panel, is likely to be the major set piece of next month’s Business Plan debate.
