Jerseymen Richard Tanguy and Chris Spence, both now professional riders, are expected to be in the frame as they speed through St Helier’s town streets looking to win the £1,000 first prize.

The main pro elite and first and second category race starts at 5.05 pm and among a quality field are riders from the six competing team including Simon Richardson, a double Paralympic Beijing gold medalist.

The race will also feature Guernsey’s emerging teenager James McLaughlin- a stage winner in the Totnes Vires 62.5-mile National Brace in Devon earlier this month when he also finished joint first in the time-trial at the same event.

The races begin with the juniors at 11.40 am and include races for recumbent bikes at 12.15.pm, a corporate relay at 2.30 pm and women’s race is at 4.10 pm.
