He says that if ministers do not back next month’s proposition to start work on the park and to rule out housing on the site, he will undermine the Draft Island Plan, which proposes building and development in town instead of the countryside.

And the Constable says that he will lead the charge against the Waterfront development that ministers want to resurrect.

‘I will fight new development and encourage the ten St Helier Deputies and the roads committee to join me unless ministers agree to start this work, and not encroach on the park by building houses on it,’ he said.
