‘All the way through it was nip and tuck,’ said JIBA president Ty Thomas. ‘There were 48 players on that green and everyone was out to do their best. Bowls isn’t the quiet-old-man-smoking-a-pipe stuff most people think it is – it’s too intense for that. So the men’s inter-insular and the Open triples were the highlights for me.’

In terms of matches won, Jersey ultimately had the edge, 7-5, but not before Saturday’s over-60s and Sunday’s triples’ and men’s went to the wire.
