Environment Minister Freddie Cohen rejected the plans by Living Legend owner Chris Lewis to build 55 houses, ten flats and allotments on the 5½-acre countryside site at a ministerial meeting on Friday.

Senator Cohen said that 65 homes would be ‘over-development’, but that he thought there ‘was an opportunity for some development’ on the site if the number of homes was significantly reduced. He recommended that the parties for and against the proposal discuss a compromise.

Twenty residents attended the meeting to object to the application, which also included a request to demolish part of an Occupation structure.
