A BARMAN allegedly raped a woman and indecently assaulted her best friend while they were drunk, the Royal Court heard.

One of his alleged victims passed out at an alcohol-fuelled party and woke as she was being raped, jurors were told.

The 28-year-old said that she initially thought it was her boyfriend until she realised it was the defendant, Ruslans Boidakovs (26), on top of her. Mr Boidakovs denies all charges.

The woman alleges that she was raped by Mr Boidakovs, who was born in Latvia, during a party on 18 May 2008 at the staff quarters of a pub.

But Mr Boidakov’s lawyer, Advocate Robert MacRae, suggested that what happened was a ‘sexual encounter between two people who had been drinking’ and not rape at all.

The trial, which is being presided over by Commissioner Sir Philip Bailhache, continues.
