The good news is that the Met Office say that after this icy blast, conditions should improve.
Forecaster Frank Le Blancq said: ‘There is the potential for us to see the worst of the wintry weather so far today. It will be bitterly cold and there could be some accumulations of snow.
‘However, we do expect the snow to turn back to rain by the evening and at this stage it looks as though things will improve for the rest of the week.’
